My inquiry project is going to be centered around learning digital art, specifically how to do linework, simple colouring and shading, more advanced painting techniques, and how to make comics. This can help me not only make visuals to help along in lectures in my class, but also help me summarize longer or more complicated texts such as Shakespeare in a more easily accessible way. I’m going to try and work on a different aspect of digital art on Clip Studio Paint every week, regardless of whether or not that gives me a finished piece. For this first week, I’ve been watching instructional and inspirational videos on digital art to learn some techniques. I also sketched out a drawing (seen above) which I will physically paint using acrylics (a newer but more familiar technique for me) and compare it to painting it in Clip Studio. I don’t think I’ll be able to do a whole piece like that digitally by next week, but it’ll be a good reference piece to start with for linework, and my goal will be to render it at the end of the term to show off my progress.
